Your details

Information in your profile makes it easier for people to find and call you.

Your profile contains information you enter about yourself so other people on Skype can search for you. It also contains information that just your contacts can see, such as your contact phone number.

Let other people find you in the Skype directory.

Show your local time so people don't accidentally call at 4am.
Easy to update.

Information in your profile

You can enter as much, or as little information as you want. You can return at any time and update. Your profile is split into three specific content blocks.

  • Details everyone will see
This includes your full name, location, language, date of birth, and additional information you may like to add such as a link to your website and a section to say a little about yourself.
  • Details only visible to your contacts
These include your home, office and mobile telephone number, your profile picture and if you want to show them your local time and how many contacts you have.
  • Private details
These are details that no one gets to see. They're stored purely to help people search for you in the Skype directory. These details include the email address(es) you enter when you first sign in to Skype. Someone who knows you're john.smith99@johnsmith.com can easily search for you instead of contacting 20 other John Smiths first.

Profile pictures

Show the world who you are by adding a picture to your profile. Your contacts will see the image you choose, so you can make them smile or just help them to match your face to your name. You can choose a picture from one of our many standard profile pictures. If you want interesting and funny pictures to represent you, you can upload one of your favourite photos or create a special self-portrait on the Personalise Skype website.

If you are using the latest version of Skype you can also use video snapshot to take a photo of yourself with your webcam and use it as your profile picture.

Share information in your mood

Your mood is the place where you can share information and update it as often as you like. Type a message telling your friends how you are feeling, pull a face with an emoticon or add a flag to show where you are in the world. You can also add website addresses to your mood so that your friends can link straight to a site that interests you.

If you are using the latest version of Skype you can also add video to your mood. Your contacts can play the video directly from your mood, call you or start an instant message to talk about it, or if they really like it, copy it and add it to their own mood.

How friends can find you

Adding information to your profile makes it easier for your friends and family to find you as they can narrow down their search criteria.

Enter your contact telephone numbers so your friends can get in touch even if you aren’t online. In the latest version of Skype your contact numbers will only be visible to your contacts, not everyone on Skype.
