Sitewards is a website design and venture support company in Darmstadt, Germany. In 2007, Sitewards won Innovationspreis 2007 ITK, for innovative and interesting solutions. In 2008, they won the Land of Ideas Awards. Clever people.

Sitewards uses free Skype audio and video calls to talk to customers and clients. Director, Lars Ax, says video calls pick up much more of the subtlety and nuance of conversations: “You can see facial reactions and gestures. You can better interpret what people are saying”.

They use instant messaging to hold meetings or arrange lunch. “It’s much more instant than email”, says Lars Ax, “and we find it excellent for workplace communication”.

Using Skype’s Business Control Panel (BCP) has cut call costs at Sitewards, too. As an easy way to allocate credit to staff so they can call landlines and mobiles, it's even got the CEO recommending it to clients. Tij Gupta says: “We always recommend Skype to our venture support clients. The BCP provides additional control to the administrator to manage and limit calling costs.”

Sitewards are such big Skype fans that last Christmas they sent customers and clients Skype headsets as gifts. Lars says, “[Skype] will save them money too… more of our communications can now be done via Skype, as we have supplied many of our contacts with the equipment.” It’s win, win really.
