Skype-to-Skype calls are available as part of the 3 X-Series monthly subscription and are subject to a fair use limit.

When you open the Skype application on the handset, you'll be presented with the option to either create a new account or to use an existing account. If you choose to create a new account, you can do it there and then on the handset. Skype Names can be anything from 6-32 characters and passwords must be 4 characters or greater. When you sign in for the first time, you should also decide whether to sign in manually. This means that you'll need to enter your password every time you sign in to the application, or when Skype starts, which means that you're automatically signed in every time you go in to the application.

Once you've signed into Skype, if you're a regular user of Skype on your desktop computer, you'll be able to see all your usual contacts. Your Skype contacts are stored within the Skype application itself.
If you're a new user, you can add contacts simply via the left hand Options soft key. You can also perform a number of other functions, via the left hand soft key, including manual refresh of contacts. The contacts will be automatically refreshed on a regular basis, as long as the application is in the foreground of your handset. If you minimise the Skype application to the background, it will refresh when it returns to the foreground.

Your contacts will not be able to tell whether you are signed in on a mobile or on desktop. Since Skype on 3 does not support chat currently, this automatic response is delivered to people who send you a chat so they will know that you cannot respond.

Try the "Refresh Now" option from the Options menu. This should update the presence status of all your contacts. Occasionally due to the nature of Skype's peer-to-peer protocol, inconsistencies in presence may sometimes occur which usually resolve themselves over time. This is the same whether you are using Skype on 3 or Skype on a PC or Mac.
