“Why should I start developing for Skype?”
Many people might be thinking about developing some software for one of the "other" possible interfaces. One of the first questions you need to ask is "What are some of the things you can do with their interfaces vs Skype?"
Once you do a little poking around and do some comparaisons you will soon see why you should start developing for Skype!
So let’s look at some things we can do as a developer with Skype.

Thanks for developing for Skype. Now you can enjoy:

Skype for Java |
New Extras Gallery |

In last month’s edition of the Developer newsletter we shared with you our core theme: "Show me the Money". We explained that our main priority is creating value for the end user, 3rd party developers and Skype itself, measured in terms of actual revenue, increased users, increased usage and "buzz factor". Powerful words indeed, but no doubt you’re now asking “how?” [...]
Having a cool application is critical, but it’s not enough in the new world. With the re launch of the Extras Gallery and other upcoming product enhancements, you will be competing for the end customer and Skype’s attention along with hundreds of other 3rd party developers. More importantly, you are competing for "share of wallet". Want to succeed?
"This month sees the culmination of a very special project for the SDP with the release of an open-source, cross-platform, Java API for Skype."
The gurus behind this adventure are Koji Hisano from UBION INC. and Bart Lamot, and it has been a privilege watching them at work. Koji and Bart were working on separate Java APIs for Skype which are Skype API for Java and JSA but joined forces and shared happily to build a powerful Java platform for Skype.
Skype4Java is a wrapper library of Skype API for Java developers. Using Skype4Java enables developers to make plug-ins on multiple platforms and use good IDEs, libraries, and frameworks. This project supports many functions of the Skype API. They started implementation of Skype 2.5 and 2.6 functions.
We are pleased to announce that we have launched our new and improved extras gallery to help you connect your application with Skype users.
The new gallery has a host of improvements including:

Carl Fravel of Convenos is a more than thirty year veteran of the software industry. He has worked in organizations that have used outsourced or remote developers and has found a number of applications applicable to the team collaboration environment.
"Carl, tell us about your recent successes with team collaboration."
I’ve had the opportunity of doing quite a bit of concept and design work with extended technology and business teams. As a result, I have assembled a toolset that works great for this purpose and is sometimes even better than in-person meetings.
Dont’t forget to visit the Convenos website.
