Choose the problem you're having:

• Problems hearing each other
• The other person can’t hear my voice
• I can’t hear the other person’s voice
• We can hear each other but the quality is poor

• I can’t get my webcam to work
• My video quality isn’t great

I can’t hear the other person’s voice

If you can’t hear the caller’s voice then the problem is most likely with their microphone or your speakers.

1. Check whether you are able to hear sounds from Skype. In the main menu, select Options › Sound Devices and click on the Make a test sound button. If you hear Skype playing a sound, then your speakers are working correctly, and the issue is most likely with the other person’s microphone. Ask him/her to follow the steps in the I think there is a problem with my microphone section of this guide.

2. If you don’t hear any sound, then the problem could be at your end. Visit I think there is a problem with my speakers to fix it.
