Making payments safely
Skype-to-Skype calls will always be free but there are a few things that cost a little such as calling mobiles and ordinary phones when you want to get hold of your friends that havent started using Skype yet. In order to do this you will need to buy some Skype Credit. We want to make sure that you know how to make payments safely.
Avoid scammers
Avoid scammers
Avoid making purchases and giving your credit card number to sites that claim to be reselling Skype services. These are not at all related to, nor endorsed by Skype, and you make any payments to them completely at your own risk. You can buy SkypeOut calling time directly in the Skype Store. You can also buy hardware and services from Skype Partners.
Do not reply to emails that request your credit card details, password or other data. Skype will never request such data by email – for payments, you can securely enter your data in the Skype Store. Our Live Support may request your payment/order or ticket tracking numbers for streamlined troubleshooting, but they will never request your credit card data or password.
Please help us and other users by reporting any illegal resellers or parties misrepresenting themselves as Skype by sending an email to support@skype.net.
Keep your payment data safe
Keep your payment data safe
Although the basic Skype-to-Skype calls are and will always remain free of charge, some services, such as SkypeOut, require payment from you. We only collect payment data, such as your credit card number, in our secure web store, and hand it on to our payment service provider without storing it. Do not give out your credit card data to anyone else, including our Live Support personnel. Live Support may request other details, such as your order number or time of purchase. In such cases, please provide it to them for solving your questions in a timely manner.
