A SkypeIn™ number is perfect if you have contacts or colleagues who don’t use Skype – or if you need a phone number for your business cards. Anyone can dial your number from a phone or mobile and hey presto, your Skype rings and you pick up the call – wherever you are in the world. Depending on where the caller is ringing from, they only pay local rates to call you, not international rates.
For example, say your clients are based in New York. For your SkypeIn you get a New York number that is connected to your Skype. Your clients can call you on your New York number so it’s a standard local call for them, regardless of where in the world you pick up the call. If you are travelling, no problem – take your laptop with you and the number will follow you wherever you are (still only a local call for the client and free for you). If you prefer to forward the calls to your mobile, that can be done as well.
How much does it cost?
The administrator(s) managing Skype in your business can buy and allocate SkypeIn numbers from the Business Control Panel. Each number costs €15 for 3 months or €50 for a full year (€17.25 and €57.50 respectively where VAT applies). By purchasing the numbers through the Business Control Panel, they can easily be reassigned to a different person at any time.

Did you know?
When you have your own SkypeIn number, you can set it up so it is displayed when you call someone on their phone or mobile. That way they’ll know it’s you who’s calling.
