“Why are my Skype notifications not coming?”

If you came here searching for the answer... you are at the right place! We have noticed that our users are struggling with receiving notifications on their Android devices and are missing important chats and calls from their loved ones. We cannot let that happen and therefore there are few things you can do to keep your notifications coming on your devices even if you don't use Skype every day.

The main reason you might be missing some notifications on your Android devices might be the built-in battery optimization setting that is on by default. This makes apps that you don't use that often “go to sleep” and limits Skype's ability to deliver your notifications.

How can I prevent that from happening?

Settings -> battery and device care -> Battery -> Background usage limits -> add Skype to “Never sleeping apps” or disable the toggle altogether.
This path may vary depending on what device you're on

NOTE: Huawei and Xiaomi devices have task killer services that interfere with the Skype notification service. In order for our notifications to work, users need to add Skype to allowed apps in those devices' security settings. Samsung devices also may require some manipulations.

Huawei: Phone Manager App > Protected apps > Add Skype to the list.
Xiaomi: Services > Security > Permissions > Autostart, find Skype and enable autostart.
Samsung: Settings > Device Maintenance > Battery > Unmonitored Apps, then add Skype to that list.

Now all your notifications will go through, and you can chat and call with whoever you want to! Makes it much easier to catch up with your loved ones or reach out to them. Make sure to share this information with everyone you know so your calls are making it through.
